From Vitoria to the World of UX/UI Design
Hello! I'm Vinicius, a passionate UX/UI designer originally from Vitoria, Espirito Santo. My journey into the world of design started at the young age of 16, when I began creating websites for myself and my colleagues. This early start laid a strong foundation in web design, and I further honed my skills with an IT certification course, specializing in web and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JAVA, and PHP. Alongside, I pursued industrial design with a major in Graphic Design, which broadened my creative and technical horizons.
A Natural Transition to UX/UI
My transition into UX/UI design was a natural progression as projects became more complex and required a more mature process. I started my career interning at a software company and then moved to the largest and most awarded design agency in my state. For around 10 years, I operated as an individual entrepreneur, leading diverse design projects from web and UX design to brand and exhibition design. This period was incredibly enriching as I led teams of up to 15 people and tackled projects for a variety of clients, including small and medium-sized companies and one of the largest road transport companies in Brazil.
Emigrating for Greater Challenges
In 2021, I made a significant career move by emigrating to the United States. My goal was to work in-house for large companies to dive into more complex UX/UI and product design projects. I started at Q Link Wireless, the largest provider of free telephone service for low-income Americans. Following that, I joined Verizon, one of the largest telecommunications companies globally, where I led impactful projects that enhanced the user experience for over 20 million customers.
Skills and Expertise
My core skills lie in analyzing data and metrics to create user-centric interface experiences that fulfill their purpose while boosting company revenue. I am particularly fascinated by new technologies, especially AI, and I enjoy experimenting with and learning from these advancements. My background in design has made me an expert in UI and Design Systems, ensuring consistency and usability across platforms.
Design Philosophy and Approach
My design philosophy centers around empathy and a holistic understanding of the product, its users, and business demands. I approach UX/UI design by integrating user needs with business objectives and technical feasibility, crafting intelligent solutions that benefit all stakeholders. What motivates me most is the knowledge that my work helps people on a large scale. For example, working at Verizon, I had the opportunity to impact the browsing experience of millions of users.
Looking Ahead
As I continue to evolve in my career, my aspiration is to take on more challenging projects that push the boundaries of UX/UI design. I aim to stay at the forefront of industry trends and technologies, continuously learning and growing as a designer.
